JUDr.  Vlasta Formánková

JUDr. Vlasta Formánková (*1953) graduated from the Charles Law Faculty in 1977 and in the same year she began to work as a legal clerk at the Western Bohemian Diary Works in Klatovy. In 1978 she passed her doctoral examination. From 1 September 1978 she was a judicial trainee at the Regional Court at Plzeň and, after passing the judicial examinations, was elected on 15 June 1979 a judge of the District Court of Plzeň – City. At first she worked in the Civil Law Division, then briefly in the Criminal Law Division, before returning to the Civil Law Division. In January, 1990 she was appointed Chairwoman of the District Court of Plzeň and, at the same time, served as Chairwoman of the Civil Law Panel. After leaving that office in the spring of 1999, she continued as a judge in the Civil Law Division, and in 2000 she transferred to the Regional Court in Plzeň, where she dealt both with first instance and appellate matters in the Civil Law Division, such as the Act on the Protection of Personality, press actions, and suits in the field of copyright law. On 5 August 2005 President Václav Klaus appointed her a Justice of the Constitutional Court.
