JUDr.  Vladimír Čermák

JUDr. Vladimír Čermák (*1929, †2004) graduated from the State Real Secondary School in Brno-Husovice in 1948. In 1952 he graduated from the Charles Law Faculty. In 1952 he became a judicial trainee at the Regional Court in Brno, and then a judge and panel chairman. In 1975 during the period of „Normalization“, he left the court at his own request and worked as a company lawyer at the City of Brno Metal Enterprise. In 1990-93 he was Chair of the Department of Political Science at the Masaryk University Faculty of Philosophy.

On 15 July 1993 President Václav Havel appointed him a Justice of the Constitutional Court.

In 1993 he became a docent of political science, and in 1994 he was named a professor of the Philosophic Faculty MU. From 1990 he taught at the Janáček Academy of Music, Drama, and Fine Arts. He was a member of the Academic Council of the Philosophic Faculty MU and the author of a five-volume work, „The Question of Democracy“, as well as a number of other papers and articles. Vladimír Čermák died on 21 July 2004.
