JUDr. Antonín Procházka

JUDr. Antonín Procházka (*1927, †2006) graduated from a classical gymnasium in Ostrava and studied law at the Masaryk Law Faculty.

In 1949 he was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for high treason and espionage. In addition, the Academic Senate of Masaryk University banned him for life from studying at any university in Czechoslovakia. He spent 6 years in prison.

He graduated from the Charles Law Faculty in 1971. He then worked as a lawyer in the building and transportation industries, after 1989 as an advocate.

In 1990 he was elected to the Czech National Council, to its Presidium, and as the Chairman of its Committee for Church Matters and Humanitarian Affairs. In 1992 he was appointed a Justice of the CSFR Constitutional Court.

On 15 July 1993 President Václav Havel appointed him a Justice of the Constitutional Court. He also lectured at the Palacký Law Faculty.

Antonín Procházka died on 9 February 2006.
