JUDr. Iva Brožová

JUDr. Iva Brožová (*1951) graduated from the Masaryk Law Faculty in 1974. In 1975 she received the title, Doctor of Laws, and she began to work as an external instructor at the Masaryk Law Faculty. In 1978 she was forced to give up teaching due to political reasons. In 1974 she was a judicial trainee at the Regional Court in Brno. A year later she became a judge of the Municipal Court in Brno, and in 1990 of the Regional Court in Brno. In 1990 she was rehabilitated as a teacher and resumed teaching at the Masaryk Law Faculty. In 1992 she was an assistant to the CSFR Constitutional Court and after the Federation was dissolved she returned to the Regional Court in Brno. On 15 July 1993 President Václav Havel appointed her a Justice of the Constitutional Court.

In 1999 Iva Brožová became a judge of the Supreme Court and on 20 March 2002 President Václav Havel appointed her its Chief Justice.
