The President of the Constitutional Court received the Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy to the Czech Republic

On Tuesday, 18 October, the President of the Constitutional Court Mr Pavel Rychetský met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the United States of America to the Czech Republic. Ms Christy Agor was appointed a chief of mission in Prague in August this year. In the past, she served at the US Embassy in Madrid or at the US Consulate General in Istanbul. She has also worked as a diplomat in Pakistan, Israel and Botswana.

At the beginning of Tuesday's courtesy meeting, Mr. Pavel Rychetský spoke about the Czech constitutional judiciary, both from an institutional and a jurisprudential perspective. The President of the Constitutional Court reminded that the Constitutional Court of the Czechoslovak Republic, established by the Constitution of 1920, was the first judicial body in the world to bear the name constitutional court. The discussion then turned to the importance of the rule of law, democracy and human rights in our society. At the end of her visit, the Chargé d'Affaires Mrs Christy Agor saw the representative rooms of the Constitutional Court building, which has been carefully and sensitively renovated since 2014.
