Václav Mezřický (*1934). Following his graduation from the Charles Law Faculty in 1960, he worked as an attorney trainee and an attorney.

In 1968-69 he was the Secretary to the Czech Republic's Procurator General. From 1969 he worked at the Institute of State and Law. In 1990 he became First Deputy Minister of the Environment. From 1991 he lectured at the Charles University Law Faculty and was head of the Department of Environmental Law. In 1993 he was named a docent and lectured in law also at the Police Academy and Agricultural Academy in Prague and at the Faculty of Humanities of Charles University. In 1998 he created a course for all of Charles University in Globalization and Global Problems.

In 1990-91 he was advisor to the World Bank in Washington, where he represented the Czechoslovak Republic. In 1991-92 he was advisor to the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development in London. He was also a member of the Legislative Commission of the Ministry of the Environment and co-author of the proposed Strategy for Sustainable Development, adopted by the Czech Republic Government in 2004.

He has completed fellowships in Holland, Germany and the USA. Among other places, he has lectured at the College of Law, Florida State University, USA and at Fujian Normal University Fuzhou in China.

On 1 September 2007, the Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court appointed him Secretary General of the Constitutional Court. His term of office expired on 31 December 2008.

Václav Mezřický died on 26 march 2018.
